UNLOCKED - denzel curry kenny beats

UNLOCKED dropped on February 7th, 2020 and is an incredibly tight and concise project from rapper Denzel Curry and producer Kenny Beats. To no ones surprise UNLOCKED remains one of Denzels highest acclaimed records, and sits at the top as my favorite.
8 tracks of nonstop, in your face, impeccable rapping and wordplay layered over beats that are engineered to be ear worms makes this such an interesting and captivating 17 minutes.
Track 01 serves and in introduction to the style of the record, following an MF DOOM inspired monologue into distorted rhythmic beats which stop and flow perfectly into the next song.
Take_It_Back_v2 is the first song on the record with Denzel absolutely spitting, without pause he raps circles around the listener with ease.

Slug - Matt Champion

Released on February 28th off this year, Matt Champion of Brockhampton is back with a new solo single! this is exciting considering how long it's been since his last release, and Brockhampton having disbanded on January 14th, 2022.
"Slug" is a funky kick snare heavy track and Matt comes in almost immediately with distorted, chipmunk vocals that flow nicely into the chorus. Known for his sleeper pipes, the notes he hits as he goes into singing about someone being his slug are incredible, and the effects added to the vocals makes it scratch that deep part of my brain that only a few artists know how to scratch.
It's nice to hear Matt Champion back in music and with such a different sound than that of Brockhampton or even his earlier work, it's refreshing to say the least. And as much as I would enjoy a hard hitting just bars in your face rap song from him again, these vocals are otherworldly and really pleasant despite the distortion.
